Summer Lake Wildlife Area and Spring Bird Migration 2022

0

Spring bird migration and the importance of wetlands can be seen at Summer Lake Wildlife Area in Oregon. The state’s first wildlife area, established in 1944, provides refuge and habitat for migrating waterfowl, shorebirds, and other animals.

Here’s a brief look into the complex wetland system that ODFW has managed for almost 80 years now.

When you visit Summer Lake and other parts of eastern Oregon this year, remember to plan accordingly because many areas are in severe drought.

Many lakes and reservoirs may not provide the best fishing access, for example, so visit the ODFW Recreation Report or call your local ODFW office to learn where the best spots are to fish this summer.
