Four Oregon State Agency Podcasts You Should Be Listening To Right Now

Podcast lovers, outdoor adventurers, and anyone who wants to keep apprised of work that Oregon’s state agencies are doing have been finding plenty of new reasons to celebrate.

In recent years, four Oregon State Agencies— the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Oregon Department of Energy, and the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Control Commission have all launched podcasts.

Here’s a quick roundup of what they are and where to listen:

1. GreenState- Oregon Department of Environmental Quality

The Department of Environmental Quality launched their GreenState Podcast in August 2021. Their latest episode, released this past month, featured a deep-dive into Oregon’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program. Accompanying the episode, DEQ ran some Electric Vehicle-themed trivia on Facebook.

2. Beaver State- The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is three seasons in to their Beaver State Podcast. The show takes a look at hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing in Oregon through conversations with Oregonians, ODFW staff and luminaries throughout the conservation world. Each half-hour to forty-five minute podcast explores complex fish and wildlife topics both broadly and in detail. Their latest episode was released just this month and explored the most recent year’s Big Game Harvest Statistics report.

3. Grounded- The Oregon Department of Energy

The Oregon Department of Energy’s Grounded Podcast is already in it’s 5th year and has released 31 episodes. Grounded is all about talking energy in Oregon— from renewable energy and the history of nuclear power… to utilities, businesses, nonprofits, schools, and Oregon families going green and making a difference. On the latest episode of Grounded, the inaugural Biennial Zero Emission Report is discussed in depth with Electric Vehicle Expert Jessica Reichers.

4. In the Weeds Potcast- Oregon Liquor & Cannabis Commission

The Oregon Liquor & Cannabis Commission recently released their 10th episode of the In the Weeds Potcast, where Oregon cannabis regulators talk about “all things pot.” The show features conversations about laws and rules impacting licensees operating in Oregon’s legalized recreational cannabis market. Their latest episode covers all the regulatory changes that took place in 2021.
