SALEM—Governor Kate Brown today released her plan to improve the health of Oregonians struggling with substance use by becoming a model state for prevention, treatment, and recovery.
“Too many Oregonians suffer from and struggle with the far-reaching effects of drug and alcohol addiction, especially families in our foster care system and our underserved and rural communities, compounded by the damaging stigma associated with the disease of addiction,” said Governor Brown. “Recovery looks different for every individual, and we must turn the tide on this crisis by ensuring access to the right treatment at the right time.”
Governor Brown’s priorities include:
• reducing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) for 75,000 Oregonians in five years
• improving standards of care and access to treatment for Oregonians with SUD
• fixing treatment structures and certification standards
• making key investments in services that support individuals in recovery
• continue to lead in the fight against the opioid epidemic
